I will start
Place: Southend-On-Sea
Fact: Southend Pier is a major landmark in Southend-on-Sea. Extending 2,158 m (1.341 miles) into the Thames Estuary, it is the longest pleasure pier in the world

| Funny topic.
I live in East-Friesland, which is a small part of Germany. But even though, in a place very near we have a very special bridge. It is said to be the smallest bridge in Europe which is allowed to be passed via car. I had to drive it once with a Mercedes, and I can tell you, if you don't put down your side-mirrors, it's more then just narrow...
Just a short video to show the bridge...

| I live in a small village in lower austria with only a bit more than 2000 habitants. The village is directly by the danube and so you can do a lot of different water sports here. We also had some great events because of this.
Take a look
Also an important fact is, that here still live direct descendants from the governing Habsburg in a really old Habsburg castle.

| Clover South Carolina had some people at one of the factories here win the lottery and it is close to Charlotte North Carolina which is the home of most Nascar drivers and home of Ric Flair who I have met in a restaurant before. Not much else it is pretty boring here. | |

Just a short video to show the bridge... I can't believe you can drive across that bridge! *gg* You actually can, and if you look at the video, there is a jeep coming from that direction - the most funny fact about that bridge is: There is a small village behind it and the bridge is the fastest connection to the more greater cities and stuff (Over the bridge it takes you about 15 minutes to the nearest city, driving all the way round takes more then 30) - so it's usual all people drive that bridge, and if you once dare and ask someone from that village to take you home or anything, you will have the fun of driving with someone who is really FAST when he passes that bridge, no matter how great his car is. The best thing I ever seen was a friend (she actually lived in that village) of my GF - she passed that bridge with more then 60 KmH ... But you may wonder, the number of accidents related to that bridge is very small (especially if you look at what happens all around).

| Turku (Åbo in Swedish), Finland. Three 'boring' facts and a couple of facts I think are quite funny: - A coastal city located in the southwest Finland. About 175 000 people of which 30 000 are students either at one of the universities or polytechnic institutes (this is the official translation of ammattikorkeakoulu, where people can study pretty much any profession that requires some education, excluding academic education). - Oldest city in Finland and was the capital of Finland until Russians (Finland was then a part of Russia) wanted to move the capital closer to them (and remove the Capital-status from Turku because Turku had very close ties to Sweden) and made Helsinki capital in 1812. The people in Turku have never really gotten over that. - A candidate for European Capital of Culture in 2011. - Has a rivalry with the city of Tampere, often dubbed the "Manchester of Finland" due to its industrial nature in the past. The university of Tampere has a students' association of un-Turku (a clumsy translation). They make a trip to Turku every year and, as a part of their trip, jump at the main marketplace in order to "further the sinking of Turku into the sea". - Tampere is not the only place in Finland which has issues with Turku, as Turku is widely considered to be the a**hole of Finland. | |
